cut-e to present four topics at ITC 2016

Experts from cut-e, the international assessment specialist, will present two papers and two posters at the 2016 International Test Commission Conference (July 1-4, Vancouver, Canada).

The ITC’s tenth biennial conference will bring together delegates from around the world to share state-of-the-art research and best practice approaches to the critical issues and challenges in assessment. cut-e is a Platinum Sponsor of the four-day event, which will feature keynote presentations and workshops on cutting-edge topics.

Founder and Managing Director of cut-e Dr Achim Preuss and Research Director Dr Katharina Lochner will present the following papers:

  • Detecting who is going to innovate (Cordova-Salon, Pinnacle building, 3 July). This session will explore how employers can now identify creative candidates in the selection process using a fully-automated scoring procedure.
  • Positive assessment (Cordova-Salon, Pinnacle building, 3 July). This session will explain how assessments and selection processes can be designed to positively engage candidates and provide meaningful outcomes for both candidates and organisations.

Dr Preuss and Dr Lochner will also present two posters, in which they’ll display key excerpts of their research and discuss their findings with the audience:

  • Behind the scores: paradata in psychometric assessment (Harbourside Ballroom, Pinnacle building, 2 July). ‘Paradata’ is the valuable information that can be gleaned from ‘how’ a candidate completes an assessment, such as their response time or the clicks they make. This session will examine how technology has opened up new opportunities for obtaining paradata from assessments and how it can be used to evaluate the quality of data and to enhance validity.
  • Pilot assessment: above and beyond ability (Harbourside Ballroom, Pinnacle building, 2 July). This session will outline a newly-validated competency model for airline pilots which includes the key social competencies needed for threat and error management and crew resource management.

“We’re very proud to sponsor the ITC’s prestigious conference and we’re delighted to have been selected to present four sessions this year,” said Dr Preuss. “We’ll highlight new thinking on test design and delivery as well as best practice approaches that will help the world’s industrial and organisational psychologists make better use of psychometric assessment.”

The ITC is a not-for-profit, global association of national psychological associations, test commissions, publishers and other organisations. Its tenth conference will be held at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel and Pinnacle Vancouver Harbourfront Hotel on 1-4 July. Register online at
