When we initially made plans to host a series of webinars with aviation leaders from across the Asia Pacific region, we expected to hear about how the aviation sector had coped with, and adapted to, operating during the global pandemic and how they were making plans for the future.
However, this was not the key message.
It was clear that this was not an industry merely ‘coping’ but it was one of resilience and innovation to drive itself forward. The aviation industry not only adapted swiftly to the shock to the sector but also claimed its position as critical contributor to the crisis resolution. The sector could have been closed down entirely. Instead, rather than adopt short‑term retrenchment values, it looked to the future and took a long‑term view on how it delivers to its customers and how it manages talent.
In this paper, we draw together three core themes from our conversations. We look at the immediate opportunities available for businesses across the sector. We consider how innovation is shaping the future and how talent strategy and practice has and will change – and what this all means for future hires and development.
