We have all heard that artificial intelligence has the potential to revolutionize the way we work. However, many HR and talent practitioners are unsure about what AI really involves and what it can do. Some imagine that their future candidates will be assessed by robo-recruiters resembling robots from the movies, such as C-3PO or Optimus Prime. The world is changing fast — but not that fast.
AI is the academic discipline that enables a computer system — using a form of knowledge representation — to perform a task that normally requires human intelligence or understanding. This is possible due to the increased processing power of today’s computers. They can analyze massive amounts of data. Also, it has become both practical and affordable to store that data. The sophisticated use of algorithms, pattern recognition, natural-language processing, machine learning and robotics have led to an increase in AI-based applications. In recruitment, this means huge volumes of candidate data can now be analyzed and interpreted quickly and cost-effectively.
This paper explains the role of AI in assessment, highlighting how it can be used today and how it might be used in the future. It has been written by Assessment Solutions experts, Richard Justenhoven and Dr Achim Preuss.
